Hooping with Gucchi
In the far reaches of the “county”
which is how bmorians refer to the white infused stolen land that outlays the harsher, more crowded, urban ghetto we dwell in (doesn’t matter which direction you drive, you get to “county”)
i visited the RAW SPIRIT FESTIVAL to do a hoop performance with the Baltimore band LOVE PEACE PROJECT
high powered hooping, especially during the punk rock songs
the festival organizers did not allow bands to cuss though, and so some of LOVE PEACE’s high art edge was lost to the beautiful clouds and the fresh air of stolen land
we play hip hop embedded live musician rock cover soulrebel mixtapes with African drums and dance, i play the hula hoops for them
i almost got into a fight with some hippie vendor chick cuz there were hoops being slung already when we got there, and the way she approached me when i did my open air market thing of throwing down my hoops and letting the product sell itself was repulsive to a cityboy in the throws of trying to pay rent so i got smart with her and she did not even understand except by body language that i was using a particularly urban word cut of sarcasto-pre-fight lingo, known well in the hood.
i sling hoops, period. i don’t like to get violent unless it is necessary.
yesterday i could not pay my hoop carney and rent will be a squeeker. thats all i could afford to think about until the music came on and hooping to it erased all hard feelings towards any present life estrangements.
i hooped yesterday to relieve a need for excessive revenge oriented violence that was misplaced and needs to lay in a relaxed fashion awaiting its use towards real and organized revolutionary activity. the revolutionist must not allow their anger at injustice and the abundant displays of oppression’s poison fruit to make them undisciplined and reactionary.
if you want some hippie hoop blog there are many, i am sure
just don’t look for that here.
peace,
spilly
