What we learn from experience is that, as Bob Dylan put it, “a hard rain’s gonna fall.”  Today when i have an overflow of new and beautiful hula hoops, ready after weeks of work for a weekend of big events, sure to bring in enough income to reinvest in double the amount of hoops and take this project onto the next plateau, the icy rain of october feeling like december has us with numb fingers and sweaters and hats, indoors if at all possible, and only hooping indoors or in our mind.  The market is out of the question.  Though it is 10 and i still keep getting impulses to go out and do some “extreme hooping” up on the brick pillar which i weekly get onto and do tricks for the traffic up and down 33rd street.

i like to be up there showing off barefoot.  i would get frostbite in 20 minutes today.  that would be cool.

tomorrow though is the event that i have not really pushed hard enough but that i hope gets momentum.  FREE family hoop day will be every SUNDAY from 10:30 to noon at STUDIO THIRTY 4 on 34th street in Hampden.  Great music, great spot, weather resistant, lots of hoops to try, mirrors to work on moves and spy on other hoopers huge smiles.  THIS EVENT IS DESIGNED TO TAKE HOOP REVOLUTION TO THE NEXT LEVEL.  it is a family affair.  its public school.

once we observe that school is irrelevant, absurd, malfunctioning, and obsolete, we must move out into the world to notice the things that teach us and the things that we put our own analysis on.  we reinvent away the walls of traditional school, we allow a way for revolutions of thought, for movement amidst the stream that is as a leaf caught in the current, unobtrusive, or like the fish fighting its way upstream, full of power and agency.
